Nokia has announced new features for Ovi

Tuesday, 26 May 2009

Nokia has announced new features for Ovi Maps, its online mobile and desktop map platform. The new version includes high-resolution satellite and terrain maps in 2D and 3D, three-dimensional landmarks for over 200 cities, and new control schemes for navigation.

On the developer side of things, Nokia announced the release of the Ovi Maps Player API, which allows content creators to embed Ovi Maps into any website. The company hopes it is the first step in creating compelling new products that use location-based data.

In related Nokia news, Google has announced the availability of a beta version of Google Sync for S60 devices. Google Sync allows users to synchronize Google calendar and contact data with cell phones. Users can edit calendar and contact information on their mobile devices or online. Users interested in signing up for the beta should browse to the Google Sync website. [via SlashPhone]
